Back Again

Hi! I am back again :). Quite a long time I did´nt post... Just was not in the mood... Does´nt mean I stopped cooking :). In fact I started with vegan meals and will show you some of my vegan experiences in the next time. Also I started to try Cake Pops. Oh my god, what a tricky thing! All my respect to those who can do that. My results are quite ok but I´m still unsatisfied. I have my problems to get the balls sticky enough and also with the coatings I have my problems.. But I´ll show you some of my "trials", my "Winter Collection":

Don´t know if I will try once again. Because it takes really lot of time to make them!!!!
So really Congrats to People like Bakerella or Isabella Schenz. Real artist if you ask me.... Are´nt they?

Today I´ll go to the Preopening of a famous Bakery in my home town, opening a new shop with bakery, bistro and patisserie: Joseph Genuss. Let´s see and try ;). So for today let me stop here. Be back soon...

Züri - Impressions from a weekend in Zürich / Switzerland

I confess that Zürich in Switzerland never was on my list of "Must to go, must to see"....  As my sweetie has a internshop at the Opera from Zürich for some weeks there was no question where I had to go :). Have you ever been to Zürich?. Now it´s a small town with a cute little center located on a lake. In the summer or springtime when everything is flourishing it must be very beautiful. There are no high houses, you find quite a lot of youg people but everything is very high priced... The local kitchen is highly influenced by the french or let´s say parisian cuisine so you find "moules et frittes", goose liver patés .... And one can find really nice restaurants in interesting locations as a former gasplant or a factory building or a bar at the top of a former planetarium... As the town is really small and the possibilities for public tranportation are excellent you can reach everything easily even if the locations is not in the so called center of the town. One of my favourites was a teahouse a little bit our of the center called Maison Blunt. Very cosy and relaxed. You can go there for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner or for a simple Drink, a Tea (mint Tea with really fersh mint for example) or ... The dishes are influenced from east-orient and the prices are reasonable...

The other restaurant that we "tested" was LA SALLE in a former factory building. You can find there a Jazz Club, a theatre, a small bar at the top of the building with a beautiful view over Zürich and a Restaurant. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the portions are rather big. They also serve half portions what is very good if you are not so hungry or intend to eat a complete menu or are feared about your purse :).

And the locations itself is fascinating. So it was a short but very interesting glance at the city of Zürich and some great days with my daughter...

Springtime gourmet Festival in my Hometown

Every year there is a Gourmet Festival in a parc in the center of my hometown where every county shows his products. This weekend  is the Festival weekend. The sun is shining bright, the parc is crowded of people looking around, drinking eating, making sort of picknick, lying lazy in the gras...... Children playing, laughing.... Of course I went there and tasted some cheese, rose syrup (very delicate!), different mustards (one was with chocolate!), oils...

Of course I had to buy something. So I´ve got a walnut bread, a fantastic hazelnut oil and some wild garlic cheese. After my exhausting morning where the teacher for Projectmanagment took hours to explain the simpliest things, I had to be recompensed no? A glass of white wine, the walnut bread and some hazelnut oil...

Yummmm......................

My sisters Easter Brunch

It was a sunny day! And my sister had prepared a table full of delicacies. Some wild garlic bread (soft and tangy), the traditional Easter "Pinze", the hard coloured eggs, ham, different cheese (one of them with cranberries and another coated with hay.. no I am not joking it was hay... very delicious), Mozzarella caprese (partly with and partly without tomatoes as she hates tomatoes meanwhile the rest of the family likes tomatoes :) ), some hot young goat cheese that she had wrapped in some ham (yummy), jam, Muesli, juice and, and....

Sitting in between the germinating plants of her terrace, the sun shining on our faces, the table full of great things: thats pleasure and fun! Thats Luxury!

Easter House-cleaning - lets get more colours in our life!

Traditionally before Eastern people start to clean their houses perfect as well as before christmas... I am not that traditional. Means that I clean when it is necessary and I am in the mood for. (If one can really be in the mood for cleaning :). (I also have a cleaning lady that helps me once or twice a month to clean the more difficult things like windows or to do those things I hate to do...). This year I had to clean a little bit more as I started to paint  some walls in my flat with really bright Colours. It looks really great! I have to say a big Thank you to my sister who assisted me in my painting experience. It started by choosing some new colours. I think the salesman was quite happy when I leaved his store (not because I´ve bought that much but rather that I had  at least taken a decision... but pardon me, is it that easy to know which colour will really fit..?). After having choosen the colours we had to clarify all the untensils we would need.... Regarding the colours I choosed a deep red, a bright turquoise and a slate grey.
Coming home in the afternoon I called my sister and told her that I was prepared to start painting...Ok not yet now but please right away in the next morning.. One must know that she is in holiday. So getting up in the morning is not really what she had dreamed about for her holidays... But look for the results. My best friend also had to take a look at, more or less immediatly and my daughter received some fotos via mail....even if she is on a holiday trip in NY... but one must know what are the really crucial things in life, no?

Little "Salad server Stories"

There is quite nothing that could not tell us a story...
Even so common things like salad server...
The cute little swimmers from Pylones are a birthday gift from one of my best and longest girl friends.
From Bali, years ago, I´ve brought those with mother of pearl and wood. Bali is one of the most magnificient place in the world to be.. Unfortunately I have been there only one time. The little salad server reminds me this beatiful holiday spent there in Nusa Dua...
Those made of Horn was a must have because I find the material tremendous.....
What about your stories and salad server ?

Teatime - is every time!

I confess: I have a butler.
The only problem: it´s a wooden one :)
Nonetheless I adore him, his name is Friday and he serves me my tea.

He was a gift for Eastern years ago...
Teatime for me is quite on any daytime and on any occasion. I drink Tea for Breakfast, for Lunch, for Dinner, when I feel sad, when I feel happy, when I feel stressed....
So over the years I developped something like a teapotcollection and I use quite all of them. Ok some of the pots I use more often then others but also because some of them looks pretty good but are´nt very usefull as they drip horribly while serving the tea. But quite every Teapot has a little history....
This one is one of my oldest one. It was part of my wedding gifts...quite a long time ago... the Teapot remained always faithful... Unfortunately Rosenthal stopped to produce this decor and the number of my cups decreased over the time....

The white one is a classic designed from Gropius (one of the founder of the great Bauhaus).

I have also the black variant that I use rarely to not get in danger that it breaks...Silly! This danger is not given with the small iron teapot. The blue is beautiful in my opinion. But I also do not use it very often as he is very heavy..but cute, no?
The hanging one seems impressively useful with the integrated teapot-warmer..still I am not conviced..and we´ve been together for a long time.. Instead the little pot with the treefoils is a gift from a friend of mine and I use it very often. She brought it from Ireland to say thank you as I was looking a little bit about her growned up childrens during her holidays...
The small glasspot is intended for teablossoms. They are quite expensive and I find their taste not so great..so he is also not often in use. Meanwhile the pot called Salam from Guy Degrenne is one of my quite daily used. It is a combination of a porcelaine pot with a steel cover lined with felt to maintain your tea hot..very tricky and useful!
